If done correctly, the fact that he's so powerful works to ones advantage. It was poorly executed, but the idea was the health meter so to speak wasn't superman, but the city of metropolis. I liked the the concept for the most recent superman game that was loosely tied to the Bryan Singer movie. I'd love to read some perceptions on this, I know I'm not the only one who would enjoy a well done Superman video game. Is this inability to create such a game correlate with the stagnation associated with Superman in general? Are his powers too exaggerated to scale to a game and balance such that gameplay is both difficult and interesting? If you start out at the beginning of Clark's life, you can easily make his powers progressive instead of making him a boring supergod all at once. His powers would make for great gameplay: flight, speed, strength, heat vision, ice breath. So why can't studios develop a game of the same caliber as those mentioned above using Superman? He's a well established character, has great villain/boss potential, and has decades of plots and storylines to pull from. Even Batman has finally gotten a couple good games that build off this concept. Infamous and Prototype came along and also demonstrated how good an open superhero game can be.

Spider-man 2 (the movie video game) is the first superhero game I can think of that pulled off this subgenre really well. I am a big fan of the superhero/villain, wide open sandbox action games.
